Zhenya, are you already retired at 22?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Give or take. Depends what side to look at!

Tell us a scary story from your childhood.

Evgenia Medvedeva: In fact, childhood was cool. Everything was: tags, catch-ups, ball games, but not on the playground, but in the gym between ice training.

How old were you when you got on the ice?

Evgenia Medvedeva: I started skating at the age of three. My mother skated until the age of 14, then she finished due to an injury. So I didn’t have many options. I started to skate just for health, no one raised me to become a world champion. I realized that maybe I was special after official training, when I was still little, the audience gathered and said: “Look what the girl is doing!”

And what was this girl doing?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Jumped a lot! All sorts of unusual combinations, unusual jumps that people have not seen yet. But I didn’t know then that I was doing something special. When I broke a record at the World Championships that no one could break for six years, I thought: “I guess I skate better than some people.”

Raising a champion is an expensive pleasure?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Expensive. These are skates, these are costumes, these are all ammunition, trips to competitions, hotels, entry fees … Mom worked three jobs to provide for me. It was an absolute jump into the abyss for her. Once talked with my mother and confessed that probably I would not have been able to do so.

Do you know those who did all this, but didn’t succeed?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Unfortunately, there are more of them than those who succeeded. I saw this. The very talented girls who beat me, who were 20 points ahead of me at the Russian Cup stages, but not all of them made it to the senior Grand Prix. The main reason is injuries. I had them too. I skated with broken arms, legs, back injuries were severe, I still try to deal with it. In sports, injuries are normal, I skated through pain, I just endured a lot.

Are you on painkillers?

Evgenia Medvedeva: No, I’m tired of taking painkillers.

Is something hurting you right now?

Evgenia Medvedeva: I sit so that it does not hurt.

What did you discover for yourself when you left sport?

Evgenia Medvedeva: A world without strict discipline! A world where I can afford to be ten minutes late, eat more for breakfast and dinner, hang out with my friends until 4 am.

What other superpowers do you have besides patience?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Always arrive on time everywhere and then wait for people for half an hour. I can also not breathe for two and a half minutes: figure skaters, like swimmers, have a large lung capacity.

Anya Semenovich, also a European champion, said that when she left sport, her breast grew.

Evgenia Medvedeva: No, girls have always envied me. I was thin, but my breast was all right.

And what about personal life of girls skaters? I think you have tough control there.

Evgenia Medvedeva: No, it actually depends more on upbringing. To clarify the situation: I had a boyfriend from the age of 17 until almost 19, including all my world records and championships. Neither coaches nor friends knew about it. Many people think that we do not allow ourselves feelings or relationships. This is not true. You just don’t know about it.

Tell us then about your relationships with Milokhin. And by the way, who is he?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Danya Milokhin is a tiktoker, and now also a singer, a very talented guy, my former partner in the Ice Age. We are not a couple and never have been, which does not prevent social networks from marrying us all the time. But we became friends and communicate.

Wait, are you single right now?

Evgenia Medvedeva: I hide my personal life.

Apparently there is something to hide!

Evgenia Medvedeva: Well, perhaps. Or maybe everything is so boring that I am ashamed to tell about it?

What guys do you like?

Evgenia Medvedeva: I really love creative people. I love people who put meaning into their actions, live for something. I love people who can express emotion or love through touch. I love beautiful words, I can’t help myself – I love with my ears. I love well-groomed men. It doesn’t matter what style or haircut, but it should be neat.

I got confused: love with ears, then haircut. Wouldn’t you date a bald and fat man?

Evgenia Medvedeva: No. This is terrible discrimination, and it’s very bad to say that, but I honestly say no.

And if he is bald, fat, but he has a velvety voice, is he tactile and very purposeful, active and creative?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Well, in such a case it’s necessary to communicate.

How did you decided on such a photoshoot?

Evgenia Medvedeva: At first I was shy, and then I remembered that the whole world saw my bottom in shorts at various championships and the Olympics, and somehow I calmed down. But I’m not the kind of person who posts photos in swimsuits. At some point, I was generally against nudity. Then, when I admitted my femininity, began to allow myself to at least bare my shoulders.

Do you like yourself at all?

Evgenia Medvedeva: I really didn’t like myself from about 19 years old to 21 years old: face, figure, quality of hair, shape of legs, lack of thin waist, which I see in social networks other girls have. This stage has now passed. I’m starting to like what I’m really investing in: I changed my haircut, I take care of my hair, I put my skin in order.

And this photo shoot can play a role in improving your self-esteem?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Absolutely. This is a big step towards accepting your sexuality. Probably, many will react: “Oh Zhenya got naked, she gor carried away.” Many people just got used to the fact that I am a very conservative athlete. But if you look from the other side, then I am no longer 17 or 18 years old.

MAXIM helps people! Evgenia, how are you going to live now?

Evgenia Medvedeva: Me? Great. I will remain a figure skater because I like it. There are many ways: to become a coach, a choreographer, perhaps to make your own show.

Would you send your child to figure skating?

Evgenia Medvedeva: No. It will rather be running, swimming, something natural for a person. Sports are great! Go in for sports, children – you will be healthy!

That is so not what she said, good grief. She had breasts even when a super thin athlete, which some girls ‘envied’. There is nothing negative about what she said and a perfectly normal situation. It’s not serious. Toxic. Ffs.

  2. f says:

then i don’t get the thing that her former boyfriend dumped her during the olympics (she was 18 at that time. if she says that she had the same bf for 2 years that meants that she could be splitting up on and off or having a double boyfriend even

Wth? So she’s saying thin girls with almost flat chests are not all right? Always envied you?! She’s so toxic!
