Tatiana Tarasova commented on the situation regarding the potential admission of Russian figure skaters to international competitions. Here’s a translation of her comments.
“Unfortunately, no one has called to inform us that we’re being allowed back. And we’ve all been waiting… They have no shame or conscience! They are causing great harm to figure skating. Because we were, are, and will continue to be progressive,” Tarasova’s words were quoted by VseProSport.
In December, the International Skating Union (ISU) announced that Russian athletes would be allowed to participate in the qualification rounds for the 2026 Olympics under neutral status, limited to one participant/pair per discipline and one alternate.
“I am confident that we’ll be allowed to compete at the Olympics in Italy. Other sports will also be reinstated — where else can they do? This would be fair to Russian athletes.
We were unfairly excluded. In figure skating, we used to have maximum representation in every discipline, but now we’re limited to just one athlete per event at the qualifying event. They have robbed us, and there is nothing good we can expect from them — they are lawless.
For them, no other laws exist besides the ones they create to suit themselves, the ones they make up to punish, deprive, and exclude. That’s all they know how to do, and for this, they receive their salaries and incredible satisfaction,” said Tatiana Tarasova.
