Choreographer of Eteri Tutberidzes group, Daniil Gleikhengauz, shared that he now choreographs fewer programs than before. Here’s a translation of his comments.
“To be honest, we’re not creating as many programs now as we used to. Before, it was much more. To avoid losing inspiration, we’re now taking a more selective approach and treating each program more individually.
I find inspiration everywhere I go. I try to spend my free time productively by watching films and TV series, listening to endless amounts of music, and going to the theater. Wherever there’s an opportunity to gain new ideas, I’m there.
When I realize I need to create a new program, I start recalling all the things I’ve seen and heard. From these thoughts, I begin thinking about what music fits with them. Gradually, ideas and concepts build up throughout the season, and then we bring them to life in the choreography.
The fastest I’ve ever choreographed a program was in three to four hours. The longest took three to four days. Sometimes with pairs, it can take one to two weeks,” said Daniil Gleikhengauz.
