Evgenia Medvedeva stated that it is better for an athlete to know in advance about their participation in the Olympics. Here’s a translation of her comment posted on Sport24.
“I’ll take the liberty to say that I knew I would go to the Olympics in Korea as early as 2016. I understood that I would go there and I was aiming for it.
I wouldn’t say it was a burden of responsibility. I had a goal, and I pursued it. I spent two seasons with a clear understanding that I was definitely going to the Games. It’s better to know in advance whether you’re going or not,” Medvedeva said.
In December, the International Skating Union (ISU) announced that Russians would be allowed to qualify for the 2026 Olympics in a neutral status – one participant/pair in each discipline, as well as one alternate.
The Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) submitted applications to the ISU on February 28, but has not yet publicly announced the names of the skaters.
