Veronika Zhilina has been approved to transfer from Russia to Azerbaijan and will be eligible to compete for Azerbaijan internationally starting next season.
According to RIA Novosti, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) granted the 18-year-old athlete a release at the organization’s executive committee meeting on Thursday.
After receiving the necessary documentation from the International Skating Union (ISU), she will be able to represent Azerbaijan in international competitions starting next season.
Zhilina has not competed since the 2023/24 season. She applied for the transfer in the spring of last year and reimbursed 1 million rubles allocated for her training, but was not granted a release at that time.
She trains at Evgeni Plushenko’s academy.
