Olympic silver medalist Alexandra Trusova talks about her approach to mental well-being, balancing her personal life as a new mother with her professional ambitions, and her future plans, including the possibility of returning to competitive figure skating and having more children. Here’s a translation of her comments.

Alexandra Trusova shared that she has never worked with a psychologist during her career, despite the challenges she faced.

Q: Have you ever worked with a psychologist?

Alexandra Trusova: I’ve never had a psychologist. I know exactly what problems held me back in sport. Maybe I should have worked with one, but I didn’t. I’ve always had my mom, who supported me and gave me advice. Even now, I can talk to her about what worries me.”

Trusova recently welcomed her first child, Mikhail, on August 6, and reflected on how her temperament may have changed since becoming a mother.

Q: Has your personality softened after having a child?

Alexandra Trusova: At work, I’m the same as I’ve always been. I can be quick-tempered and demanding. But with my loved ones, I’ve probably become gentler.”

Plans for Skating and Family Expansion While Trusova’s immediate future revolves around her recovery after childbirth, she revealed her longing for figure skating and her desire to return to the sport.

Q: Are you planning to restore your quad jumps?

Alexandra Trusova: We’ll see. It’s hard to say anything definite just a month and a half after giving birth.

Q: Do you want to return to professional skating?

Alexandra Trusova: I miss it very much. I tried performing at the test skates last year. I’ll have to see how the recovery process goes.”

Beyond skating, Trusova shared her thoughts about expanding her family in the future.

Q: Do you plan to have more children?

Alexandra Trusova: Not right now, of course. I believe that every child should have a period when they’re the only beloved one in the family. I really like the age difference that I have with my siblings. Naturally, I don’t want to stop at just one child.”
