Grand-prix Final. Costumes review: ladies short program
I have already discussed junior’s costumes, so now is the time to discuss and give the fashion medals for senior ladies. It wasn’t easy to chose who was the best because all ladies were very well dresses what happens not so often. All six ladies have beautiful dresses but anyway I’ll try to rank them:
№6 Satoko Miyahara
I really like the asymmetrical skirt, it reminds me of a ballet rehearsal skirts. The skirt is light and look great in motion. I also like the small red and black ruffles on the sleeves, they make an accent on hands, make them more expressive. What I don’t like it’s translucent laces on the bodice, it looks a bit old-fashioned.
№5 Elena Radionova
Comparing to previous season Elena has made a huge progress in style of her costumes. This one has a lot more taste. This dress is quite interesting, has unusual length for the figure skating costume. The skirt is also asymmetrical: longer on the back that also look interesting. The back of the dress reminds me a sundress while the front side gives an association with a night gown…which is a trend in ice dance now) I like the direction of their thoughts about the color….it’s good that they have chosen a tender one but I wish the shade have been more special and sophisticated. And the fabric is also looks a bit cheap.
№4 Evgenia Medvedeva
I like the vinous color, it always look good on the ice and it suits Evgenia. The silhouette is simple but that allowed to decorate the dress generously with Swarovski crystals. The dress is beautiful and elegant. The two things I don’t like in this dress are the necklace and the tights. So why this costume is not in the top-3? Because it’s a nice dress but not unique or special, we saw lots of such dress, especially on the American ladies. The heart-neckline with mesh and sequins really reminds me Gracie Gold’s dresses.
№3 Mao Asada
Mao seems to be the fan of violet color) I’m really happy to see Mao wearing bright colors and a simple dress. The front side is fully closed but the dress has sexy open back. I like the design of the skirt, it looks a bit fluffy and playful what is a great fit for the program. The tiny sparkling finishing look great and refined and doesn’t grab too many attention. And something in this dress slightly reminds me Yuna Kim’s dresses…..))
№2 Ashley Wagner
I have already discussed Ashley’s dress for the short program here. This dress also won the nomination of the Best ladies dress at NHK Trophy. And this time is also one of the best. Perfect fit for the program! Simple cut, not lots of details that allows to concentrate on Ashley’s skating. The skirt of the fringe is a great choice for latina program! But I still prefer the first dress (the one she borrowed from Marissa Castelli), that dress could have won the costumes final. This one good too….but not so laconically sexy.
№1 Gracie Gold
I loved, loved, loved this dress! Perfect example how a simple dress can look absolutely fabulous! Laconic cut, highlight her figure, totally in style. This dress has a lot in common with academic dress for tango. And the idea with scarlett inner side is just marvelous! Stylish and hot. The dress is simple but makes a huge impression.
