The International Skating Union (ISU) has postponed making a decision on whether to allow Russian junior figure skaters to participate in ISU-sanctioned tournaments. Here’s a translation.

The ISU Council meeting took place on March 29 in Prague.

“At this time, no decision has been made, although the issue of admission was on the agenda. The ISU Council will discuss this matter again in June of this year at the next meeting in Tenerife,” a source told RIA Novosti.

Russian figure skaters, including juniors, have been suspended from international competitions since March 2022. In December 2025, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Russians be allowed to participate in junior competitions with their flag, anthem, and national symbols.

The International Skating Union (ISU) did not consider the issue of admitting Russian juniors at the March meeting because the organization does not yet have a roadmap.

This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing several sources familiar with the situation.

“The Council did not make a decision at the March 29 meeting because the ISU does not yet have a roadmap. It should be ready by the next meeting,” the source said.

The International Skating Union (ISU) is not considering the issue of allowing senior Russian figure skaters to compete in ISU-sanctioned events.

This was reported by journalist Vladislav Zhukov.

“Siniors are no longer being considered, unfortunately. The admission of juniors, however, will most likely happen from the next season. But seniors, yes, are still waiting.

Previously, the mood in the ISU was different – now it has tightened to only allowing juniors. And that’s only because two IOC representatives were present at the March 29 council meeting. They directly said, ‘We recommended admission, now you should implement it,’” Zhukov wrote in the Telegram channel.
