Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron shared their happiness at achieving the Olympic-World double on RMC. The French pair also looked ahead to the future. Here’s a translation of their comments.
“It’s a mix of so many emotions. There’s obviously a lot of pride. We’re super happy and satisfied to realize that we’ve achieved all the goals we set for ourselves a year ago – goals that seemed a bit crazy at the time,” said Guillaume Cizeron. “To see that we made it fills us with joy. I think there’s also a bit of nostalgia because we enjoyed skating these two programs so much. We said goodbye to them in Prague, with a few tears of happiness.”
“We always have different relationships with each program. The free program holds a very special place in our hearts. There was a touch of nostalgia performing it for the last time. But we were very happy with how we skated and what we felt from start to finish. It was a little farewell, but we hope to have the chance to perform it again in a gala. Maybe not in competition, but in a gala, because it’s a program that carried us through the whole season. It’s a program that allowed us to rediscover each other and ourselves as a team,” added Laurence Fournier Beaudry.
“I don’t think we even counted how many times we listened to this music. We listen to it every day at practice, multiple times,” joked Cizeron. “We also do a lot of mental preparation. But what’s surprising about this music is that it still moves us. It can still bring us to tears, even after listening to it almost every day for a year. There’s something very, very special about it. We really connected with these pieces from Rob Simonsen’s album.”
What’s next for the skating couple? Formed in 2025 and now crowned with success, having won the three major ice dance titles available to them, will Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier-Beaudry continue their journey together? “Honestly, we haven’t really had time to sit down and think about what’s next,” said the double Olympic champion. “We also wanted to stay in the present and fully enjoy what we were experiencing without projecting too much into the future. We plan to take a vacation, see what opportunities arise, what motivates us, and what challenges we want to set for ourselves in the future.”
“The next few weeks will give us some time to breathe and fully realize what we’ve accomplished this year,” added Fournier Beaudry. “That’s why we want to take a moment to process it and celebrate with our whole team. We think it’s important to do that after such a big season. Then we’ll see where we want to go next.”
