Fashion minute) I continue to discuss costumes from Grand-prix Final, ladies’ free program is next.

Fashion results of the short program are here: Grand-Prix Final 2016: ladies short program fashion review

Anna Pogorilaya

Anna Pogorilaya

I was so happy to see Anna wearing simple and elegant dress for the short program. Well, my joy did not last long. Just till the free program. Here everything was as usual: beautiful Anna in horrible dress. I really wanna meet her designer somewhere in the dark palace and check how fast he/she can run. Because I simply don’t understand how can you dress up such a beautiful girl in such a fashion catastrophe. I even can’t decide what I hate more about this dress: the strange grey bandage, visible bellybutton or drapery aka kangaroo bag below it? How can she improve this dress? Oh, honey, she can’t, just burn it!

Fortunately there was only one fashion disaster, other girls looked lovely. Lovely and nice but not really impressive or gorgeous. So it was hard to range them because for me they all was pretty at the same level.

Kaetlyn Osmond

Kaetlyn Osmond

I think that’s my favorite color for brunettes in figure skating) Girls, if you want to read pleasant reviews on your dresses on fs-gossips, wear something vinous) Laconic and vinous are your keys to success. Ok, I’m joking.

So, I absolutely loved the color of Kaetlyn’s dress, small sleeves and shape of the neckline. But I think they’ve overdone the bodice a bit. I’d remove something, maybe the inserts of different fabric.

Evgenia Medvedeva

Evgenia Medvedeva

I love the simple cut and noble grey color, I like how it looks on Evgenia. It’s also a good choice for dramatic program, not bright but still not black which could make the program too dismal. I also like a delicate decoration on the bodice, it’s very beautiful. But I don’t like the pink skirt, I think it spoiled the impression. If they wanted to add some tender shade into the dress they should have either done a more gradual transition from grey to pink, or colored only the small part of the skirt or made a pink underlayer.

Maria Sotskova

Maria Sostskova

I liked this simple and tender dress a lot. Great choice for a young girl. It’s also a good example of one simple rule: if you have an interesting idea for your costume, make everything else simple just to concentrate the attention on this idea. This flowery illussion of sleeves looks so delicate and I actually have never seen such application before! Oh, I wish they have used a better matched nude illussion mesh!

This dress also reminds me of Elie Saab designs:

Elena Radionova

Elena Radionova

I like the color combination, it looks great on blonde girl. The bodice is nicely decorated with rhinestones. The dress turned out beautiful and tender. I know that Elena designed it herself, well done! It’s much better than her last season’s dress from a famous designer) But I still have a feeling that something is missing, some detail to complete the image. Maybe some hair accessory. And looking at this dress you won’t guess what she’s skating to, I mean it can be any classical music or lyrical song.

Satoko Miyahara

Satoko Miyahara

Satoko is one of the girls who this season joined the trend of white dresses. Perhaps, girls start to dream about wedding, who knows) Satoko is my winner today because she had the most complete image. Why the white dress? Maybe she was referring to princess Leia’s white outfit? I also see some antic notes in this dress. The drapery, fibules on the shoulders. Perhaps she’s an anсient goodness of war. And that’s definitely one of my favorite heir accessories of the season!

I like the colors of Anna’s dress, but the draping is all wrong. And the grayish belt just distracts me. Anna, you’re a lovely girl, why this unflattering dress?

I love Kaetlyn’s dress. Red is fabulous on brunettes and the style is perfect on her. I agree the bodice has lots of detailing, maybe a little too much, but it’s one of my favorites for sure.

Evgenia’s dress is a gorgeous concept, but for me the skirt doesn’t blend well into the bodice. The gray is stately on her, she looks like she means business without being plain. But for me pink is not a color for a program about terrorist attacks. (In my opinion, NO color should be used for a terrorist attack program because there should BE no terrorist attack programs, but that’s another story!) Anyway, I think gray looks great on her but the color is similar to her dress from last year.

Maria looks lovely. She’s a young girl and this dress is tasteful and elegant. It’s not overdone, and she looks classy. If only the mesh matched her skin tone!

Blondes in pink is a good idea and both Maria and Elena figured that out. Elena’s dress is a great color on her, the sequins are pretty, but I agree that it’s not exactly a Turandot dress. Then again, it might look odd for such a blonde girl to wear an Asian-themed costume; I guess I’d have to see it before I make my judgement. I just wish that there was a little more design on her shoulders.

Satoko looks really nice. Well-packaged. But I miss some of her fluffy bright costumes. I also really like her dress from the short program :)

Okay so I think my winner would have to be Kaetlyn for the stunning color.
