Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier shared their emotions after winning silver at the 2024 World Championships.

“I think we truly gave it our all today. This program demands us to show these emotions with love. Today, we shared a lot of love with Canada. This was everything we hoped for 4 years later (referencing the cancellation of the 2020 World Championships due to pandemic – ed.).

(On the future) We’re thinking about it ourselves. We’re the team that somehow keeps everyone in suspense when it comes to the music. If we skate for another season, I think we will really enjoy it. I don’t know, we’ll see. At the moment, our trajectory is going upward. We have our first World Championships silver medal. Maybe the next step will be gold, but I don’t know, we’ll need some time to figure it out,” Gilles said.

“I think usually we don’t call something perfect – this is what makes us athletes and motivates us to become better, but this was a special moment for us – sharing this with all of Canada in front of the Canadian audience. The audience was so wonderful and gave us everything. It was a huge relief, the work we put in helped us handle the program and gave us the opportunity to skate emotionally, realistically, and sincerely,” Poirier added.
