“The Italian Ice Sports Federation is not interested in requesting the transfer and release of foreign athletes who have no connections to Italy and / or our federation.” a comment on rumors about possible transfer of Maiia Khromykh
The press service of the Ice Sports Federation, in response to a request from Sport-Express, commented on the news circulated in social networks about the plans of the 16-year-old figure skater of Khrustalny Maiia Khromykh to change sports citizenship and represent Italy.
According to the press attache of the federation, Davide Marostica, such a transfer was not planned and was not discussed:
“The federation is not aware of the transfer and no one from the Italian federation has ever spoken to Maiia Khromykh or her representatives.
The Italian Ice Sports Federation is not interested in requesting the transfer and release (by the current federation, in this case, Russia) of foreign athletes who have no connections to Italy and / or our federation.”
Khromykh is the winner of the junior Russian Cup-2019, the medalist of the junior and senior Grand Prix stages. At the last Russian Nationals, she took seventh place, but since March 2022 she has not participated in the competition.
Probably we should also ask the Ice Sports Federation what connections to Italy and / or federation Maria Talalaikina had, who also announced her transfer to Italian team but then returned to Russia.
