Representing South Korea in the ice dance event, Hannah Lim and Ye Quan scored 110.92 points in the free dance and with their earlier rhythm dance score of 66.05, finished sixth overall with a total of 176.97 points. Here’s a translation of their comments posted on MFocus.

After the competition, in the mixed zone, Hannah Lim and Ye Quan said, “We think we received a good score,” and, reflecting on their free dance, added, “The disappointing part was the twizzles. They were a bit shaky again this time… but we think we performed and expressed ourselves well.” The pair achieved meaningful results in technical elements at this competition. Lim explained, “We practiced the technical elements by recording videos and checking each one. By continuously reviewing and practicing, we’re able to perform more consistently in competitions.”

When asked about the lessons learned from this event, Quan said, “As always, it’s important for us to focus on our connection and clarify the intention and focal points of each element, and to review them more thoroughly.” Lim candidly shared the pressure she felt during the competition: “This time, I was really stressed and nervous, so I didn’t enjoy it. But I’ve noticed that when I have fun at competitions, the results are always better. So next time, I want to skate more enjoyably and happily.” She added, “Even while waiting, I was so nervous, thinking ‘Oh my god’ over and over… The pressure during the competition was tough.”

Their next event is the 2026 Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics. When asked how they will spend the remaining time, Lim said, “There are only three days until the Olympics. We’ll return to Montreal and leave again after three days, so we’ll just focus on repeated training.” Quan added, “With only three days, our goal is to review the mistakes from this competition and improve where we can, but above all, to build consistency through repetition. Our run-throughs are usually good in practice, but the stress and expectations at this event were high. We’ll review and refine things when we get back.”

They also shared their excitement for the Olympic team event. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Korea could not participate in the team event due to the absence of ice dance and pairs teams. This time, with Lim and Quan representing ice dance, Korea will be able to compete in the team event. Lim said, “The team event is the very first event at the Olympics, so I’m really looking forward to it. I’m so moved to be able to represent Korea. Like at the last Team Trophy, it will be even more meaningful to compete alongside other Korean athletes. I’m really looking forward to it.”
