Anna Shcherbakova spoke about recovering from ankle surgery and also shared that she is receiving many offers from foreign countries. Here’s a translation of her comments.
The 2022 Olympic figure skating champion in women’s skating underwent surgery for an ankle injury in March.
“I always try to be optimistic. Every time I get injured, I base my recovery on the minimum recovery time. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t go according to plan. But that’s not a reason to be despondent.
It is precisely at such moments that there is time for reflection; you analyze what happened, make plans for the future and simply dream. I think it’s very important to believe that in the end, everything will be okay.”
“I receive a lot of offers. And I try to respond to them. I am interested in this myself, and I want as many children as possible to learn about such a wonderful sport as figure skating. Any big business starts small.
I can’t speak for other people. But I felt this love and support during my very first trip to China when I was just 15 years old. And since then, these feelings have always been with me. I am immensely grateful to Chinese fans for their warmth and attention to me and to figure skating.
Growing up in a huge country with a rich history myself, when I encountered Chinese culture, I immediately felt that we have a lot in common, but also, of course, many cardinal differences. This is a country that I would very much like to get to know closer, study its history, learn its traditions, understand its people,’ said the Olympic champion.”
