Adam Solya: This is a masterpiece in the world of figure skating! I even asked the athletes to give me a little break to watch Misha when he skated this program. I said: “Let me enjoy! May be this be the last performance of this program?” Perhaps Professor Mishin will invite me to create new programs for Kolyada. We have not yet agreed exactly, but discussed this option. In any case, I am very grateful to Alexei Mishin for his trust and for the two programs that I have already created in St. Petersburg,

Sola choreographed a short program for Elizaveta Tuktamysheva. He also spoke about the program for Evgeni Semenenko.

Adam Solya: I like how Evgeni perceives the information: as soon as I show the movement of my right hand, he tries to repeat it and at the same time improvises how the left hand will work at that moment. That is, his whole body moves to the beat, like a single organism. As a professional dancer, I really appreciate this philosophy.

Adam Solya also spoke about the work on new program for the World and European champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva.

Adam Solya: It all started when Alexei Mishin and I met at the recent European Championships in Tallinn. Just after the free program of Zhenya Semenenko, when he went to rest, Alexei Nikolayevich invited me to a tête-à-tête conversation. He said that he wanted to entrust me with a secret mission: to choreograph his favorite female skater a powerful dance, which should be radically different from her current style.

You know Liza’s repertoire: very high-speed movements, the Oriental atmosphere, sensuality… Each of her programs is filled with unique energy. But we decided to reveal new facets of her talent – those that were hidden in the depths of her soul.

Sola was unable to accompany his athlete Luna Hendrickx to the Olympics because the organizers allowed the athletes to take only one coach. When it became clear that Tuktamysheva would definitely not perform on the Olympic ice, Mishin wrote a message to Sola asking him to get to work. The choreographer flew to St. Petersburg on February 15, the day when the women’s individual event began in Beijing.

Adam Solya: The whole week spent with Lisa, I saw how happy she was. She welcomed me very warmly, listened carefully to all my ideas and learned the movements. She herself contributed a lot to this program – many elegant finds. It seems to me that it was a very wise decision by Mishin to create a new program at precisely such a period. Full update, the beginning of a new page of life!

I have never noticed even a trace of frustration and negativity on Liza’s face due to the fact that she did not get into the main event of the season. She showed endless positivity. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you the music and artistic image of our program now. I will only note that this is a transformation, a new Liza on ice. Professor Mishin said that he really likes what we have done in a week, and it makes sense to test the program now. It will be the short program for the next season.

The choreographer worked several times with Mishin’s group at the training camp, choreographed Tuktamysheva’s programs for the last Olympic season and the 2018/19 season, when she returned to the world elite. Sola also choreographed programs and individual choreographic elements for Sofia Samodurova and the junior skaters of the group.

Adam Solya: It was an honor for me to receive an invitation from Professor Mishin in 2017. After all, he is a legend. Your coach is very popular in Belgium, our athletes learn with his textbooks and technologies. I was always shy to ask the professor directly how did he find out about me. But I dare to hope that through the programs of my athletes – Jorick and Luna Hendrickx. By the way, Luna and Jorick also enjoyed going to Professor Mishin’s training camp and catching his every word.
