Tatiana Tarasova: Going to Tutberidze, Shoma Uno made the only right choice
The Russian figure skating federation officially confirmed that Shoma Uno will prepare for the next season in Eteri Tutberidze’s group.
” Japanese figure skater Shoma Uno arrives in Moscow this week to begin preparations for the new season in the group of coach Eteri Tutberidze. The athlete plans to spend more than a month in Russia at the summer training camp of the group, after which further plans will be discussed.” by fsrussia.ru
Tatiana Tarasova and Ilia Averbukh commented on such a decision.
Tatiana Tarasova: I think it wasn’t an easy decision (leaving Higuchi and Yamada – ed.). And if he made such a decision, then, in my opinion, he made the only right choice – went to Tutberidze and her team, because Tutberidze is an outstanding coach, she has strong assistants. Together they will help him to become more confident and more technical. He is already an outstanding figure skater, but in the group of Tutberidze, even girls are taught not to underrotate quads.
I’m very happy for both Eteri Georgievna and him. It’s always very interesting to work with the Japanese. I’ve worked for many years with the Japanese. I think that the appearance of such a person will be very interesting for her group.

Ilia Averbukh: It’s great that everyone in figure skating exchanges experience. Not by chance Russian specialists are considered the best, and the group of Eteri Tutberidze is currently the absolute leader in single skating. First of all, of course, in ladies single skating, but I’m sure that Eteri Georgievna will be able to help our Japanese friend in many ways.
It’s not some kind of sensation. There should be such an attention to our coaches from foreign skaters, because they are coaching world champions, the best of the best. Uno is an amazingly talented figure skater. He came to a summer training camp and this is a usual story in the world of figure skating. Moreover, now he’s looking for a coach, with whom to work on an ongoing basis.
