Quebec Summer Championships 2015 | Pairs

The most interesting part of Quebec Summer Championships 2015 has started and pairs done their short program routine.

I want to discuss new programs of three leading (after short program) pairs.

3.  Julianne Seguin and Charlie Bilodeau CAN  58.74

Their short program I like the most. It’s fun to watch and has a lot of interesting choreo details and transition. The program has playfulness, light and suits young pair a lot. Also they had the highest program component score. Unfortunately Charlie missed the jump but it didn’t spoil the overall impression. The most important thing is Julianne Seguin and Charlie Bilodeau has their style, so the judges and audience will remember them.

2 Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro CAN   59.36

I think Kirsten and Michael did a good job this offseason, so I can see a progress in their skating. They look more like a pair now, there are more interaction between them. I like the dancing lift, it’s a nice and memorable moment of their performance. I also like Kirsten’s dress. Simple, stylish, sexy. But I think the programm could be more interesting. They need something to stand out and be remembered regardless the technique score. And I don’t think that this program is the best decision right now.

1. Marissa Castelli and Mervin Tran USA 60.68

I can also see a good job that have done in offseason. This pair improved a lot but you can still see a potential for growth. Marvin is a great, reliable partner and he also has nice lines and culture of movements. Marissa adds a lot of bright and temper into this pair but she still needs to work a lot on her second mark to be on the same level with her partner. I also think that this program is good but not memorable. And a golden dress seems to be not lucky in figure skating.

The results are close, so free program can bring some changes.
