Elizaveta Tuktamysheva returns to old short program
Reigning World Champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva decided to return her previous short program to Bolero. At Golden Spin of Zagreb she will already compete with the old program.
Recently her coach Alexei Mishin gave a comment about this decision:
As a result of the events in Bordeaux Elizaveta hasn’t got to the Grand Prix Final, but there is also a positive moment – we’ll quietly prepare for the Russian National Championship in Yekaterinburg, which is an important start of the outgoing year. Now we’ll test our strength in Zagreb, where Lisa will skate the last year’s short program. I think if something does not add up it’s no need to change an athlete, you have to change the program. Last year’s short program was “a great success”.
Honestly, I don’t think that it was a right decision. It looks like a lack of confidence and frustration to me. I also don’t think that the problem is in program, because let’s be honest Elizaveta’s programs don’t differ one from the other much. This new program also didn’t have any extra transitions or difficult choreo that could make it harder to skate. The only reason of the rough start of the season I see in her physical shape. She wasn’t ready that early in the season to do a triple axel with all other elements of the program. And the return to the old program won’t solve this program.
