2024 World bronze medalist, Rena Uezono, also took part in the junior training camp where Daisuke Takahashi worked as a coach. Here’s a translation of some of her comments and article about the training camp posted on Web Sportiva.

Although still a junior, Uezono who wants to “be a skater remembered more for her performances than her records” (her comment from Worlds), focuses not only on jumps but also on her skating and expression.

“During a junior training camp held in July, she learned a lot from Daisuke Takahashi. In individual practice, she focused on the nuances of interpreting music and movement, and in the general practice, she relearned the beautiful handling of the free leg, saying, “I was taught to be conscious even of the tips of my fingers and toes.”

After the successful last season, she attracts even more attention this year. However, she says, “Being known is a pleasure and also energizes me. I think it would be nice if I could enjoy the pressure as well.”

Her SP for this season is “Voila,” it is a slightly mature song, but it seems to be the perfect program for her, who says, “I want to show my skating to the world.”
