In the short program at the Four Continents Championships, Junhwan Cha earned a total score of 95.30 points and currntly takes the third place.
“It feels like returning to international competitions after the injury.” He said, ‘I came back and did my best, and I am satisfied with how I performed.”
As for the injury, Junhwan mentioned, “I am recovering to some extent, but it seems I still need a little more time.” When asked if participating in the Four Continents Championship while still having an injury was burdensome, he responded, “Since the last Skate Canada, I haven’t participated in any international competitions. Regardless of how the performance goes, I felt the need to check before the World Championships. So, I consider this part of the training, and that’s why I was determined to participate in the Four Continents Championships.”
As for the program content, Junhwan shared “I started practicing the quadruple jump again a week before Nationals. I planned two quadruple jumps for this competition as well, but I decided to go with a more stable content for now, thinking that there might not be enough time yet. After this competition, I will continue practicing two quadruples. I don’t know if I will attempt two at the World Championships, but I will work hard to show the best performance I have now.”
Answering the question about upcoming free skate, he told, “I am planning two quads, but I need to monitor the training until right before the competition. Instead of setting big goals, such as achieving something specific, I think of this as part of the training. I want to go out and do my best, regardless of the outcome. That seems to be the most crucial point for me in this competition. Good or bad, I want to show that.”
Speaking about his short program to “Masquerade” Junhwan said, “In my opinion, it was a good choice for me. Due to the injury, I couldn’t train as much as in other seasons, but I will continue training, and it will only get better.”
He expressed his gratitude to the fans who supported him throughout this season, saying, “I think I could always work hard thanks to the fans who supported me throughout this season. I want to repay them by always giving my best, as they might have had some tough times as well.”
