Here’s a translation of Kaori Sakamoto’s comments about official practice and her goals for Grand Prix Final posted on Nikkansports.
“I was too excited today, and it felt like I was going all out from the beginning. I hope to calm down and do well from tomorrow,” said Sakamoto after the official practice.
“Last year, I wasn’t in good shape at all, but being called ‘favorite to win’ was like ‘What should I do… I’m not at that level,'” Kaori said, recalling last season’s Grand Prix Final. “This season, it felt like I could do it if I worked hard and do my best, so my mindset is different from last year.”
At the Grand Prix in Espoo, Finland, Kaori revealed that she had injured the instep of her right foot in late August. “I’ve been able to skate without taping since last Tuesday. ‘It doesn’t hurt…’ I thought. I’m healthy,” she said with a smile. “I’m going without any anxiety factors!” she said approaching the Grand Prix Final.
