Here’s my list of best costumes from the free dance at JGP in St.Gervais.
Eliana GROPMAN / Ian SOMERVILLE (USA)
Lovely costumes for such young duo. I like the assymetrical design of Eliana’s dress and the bright colour. Beautiful finishing with silver rhinestones on the bodice. Light, three-layer assymetrical skirt look great in motion. I also like that for Ian they chose pretty classical look instead of fashionable now “training clothes”. It helps him look more serious and mature..
Christina CARREIRA / Anthony PONOMARENKO (USA)
Simple and light costumes, I like that they choose such shades of lilac and violet instead of so popular for this music black and grey. It helped to highlight the youth of the pair and tenderness of the dance. Christina’s dress is simple but with beautiful and delicate finishing on the bodice. I also like the laconism of Anthony’s costume, but I’m not a fan of plush pants.
Sofia POLISHCHUK / Alexander VAKHNOV (Russia)
When else to skate to Romeo and Juliet if not in juniors? Great to see guys wearing such beautiful and not overdone costumes. I also like chosen color palette – grey and pale yellow. Pretty unusual for RJ program) Alexander wears Jonathan Guerreiro’s last season’s costumes, but I don’t have nothing against. Nice costume and suits to the program. Sofia’s dress reminds me of Elie Saab’s dresses – laconic but gorgeous.
Sofia SHEVCHENKO / Igor EREMENKO (USA)
Yeah, I’m a fan of simplicity and laconism in figure skating fashion) Because such costumes don’t distract from the dance and skaters themselves. Igor wears what I usually call ‘training clothes style’, but very popular and fashionable nowadays. But Sofia’s dress is just gorgeous! Love the design of the back! The dress is chic and stylish and look really good in motion.
