Russian ice dancers showed short dances
Today in Sochi was the Open skate of the Russian National team. Here are the video of the short dances (thanks to Nathalie Plekhanova who uploaded videos to youtube).
Elena Ilinykh and Ruslan Zhiganshin

Love the waltz part. But they need more speed and power for the WWRY step sequence. I think this dance also lacks some culmination point.

I’m not impressed a lot. I thought the walz should suit them, but they lacks some flow and lightness in their skating. I think thay are too monumentum for this tender music. But i like some pieces from the march part, good musicality here.
Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev

This season a lot of duos decided to be original and made a walz to look not like a walz. Honestly, I don’t know why. As for me nothing can be better than beautiful classical waltz to a classical music. And I like what i’ve seen from Ekaterina and Dmitrii. This dance has a potential. I also like Ekaterina’s dress!
Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin
I also quite like this dance, it has a potential and suits them. This dance highlights their strengths. But I don’t like the lift.
See how thier competitors from USA and Canada are doing.
