Maia Shibutani & Alex Shibutani. Free dance to Coldplay

I absolutely loved the exhibition number that Peter Tchernyshev choreographed for Maia and Alex Shibutani in previous season. It was something new for the duo, something that could really show them from the different side. So, all the previous season I regretted that fantastic modern and sensual in their own way dance was only for the gala and not a competitive dance. That is why I was extremely happy when Maia and Alex announced that their free dance for this season will be created aslo by Peter Tchernyshev. They need this rebranding of their duo, need to bring something fresh and different in their dances if they don’t want to be only the second team for US federation.

For the free dance they chose Fix you by Coldplay:

I think the dance is just amazing! It’s different and not only just because of new music or choreo. They have changed. Especially Alex. I saw the start of this changes last year in pasodoble but this year It’s just wow! Alex has found spice and sexuality! The whole dance I just couldn’t take my eyes off him. I think this dance has lots of potential to be breathtaking. The only thing I wish they had a bit more interaction between each other, if they want a breakthrough they need to ignore this social opinion about all those brother and sister thing and show us some chemistry.

The judgment at Ondrej Nepela Trophy 2015 was weird….I really didn’t understand it. Coomes and Buckland are better in components score than Shibutani? Sorry, what? Are you serious? It’s just ridiculous.
