In the interview posted on L’Equipe, Adam Siao Him Fa talks about winning Grand Prix de France
“It’s going to end up being my signature. I don’t really want it… But it’s still nice,” Adam told bursting into laughter about coming back from the eighth place in the short program.
This off-season Adam had to deal with an injury to his right ankle (sprain with partial ligament tear) that kept him off the ice from June to mid-August. With his team, they even contemplated skipping the Grand Prix season to focus on the European Championships and the World Championships. His coach Cedric Tour commented: “We first had to accept the situation. And then, honestly, we had to discuss with the doctors, take a bit more time than expected, decide when we could start increasing the intensity.”
“When I arrived in Angers, I put too much pressure on myself, which is quite stupid,” said Adam Siao Him Fa. ‘For the free, I changed my mindset, considering it as a practice. I told myself: forget everything, leave your brain outside the rink and go for it!”
Even though this victory leaves the door open for a qualification to the Grand Prix Final, Siao Him Fa feels that it would be “just a bonus.” As for his next competitions at the Cup of China he said: “I really need to take this start of the season as the preparation I didn’t have. Now, I’m going to work with Benoît in Avignon, to rework the choreography. And then, I’m going to do a lot of programs!”
