Aleksandr Galliamov likened the scores of the European pairs champions to a joke.

Yesterday, the Italian pair Lucrezia Beccari – Matteo Guarise won the European Championships in Kaunas, scoring 199.19 points. The Russians did not participate in the tournament.

“I read a joke this morning, but I didn’t understand anything. 199.19. What could that mean?” – Galliamov posted in his Telegram channel.

In December, Galliamov, paired with Anastasia Mishina, won the Russian Nationals, scoring 244.85 points.

So sad and disappointed he said Those words. He seemed to be a very nice guy. He should behave differently with other athlets, respect them. I think he didn’t realize the REAL reason he is not competing, and this is even worse! If he is not albe to congratulate to Beccari/Guarise better not talk at all!

I have something elle for Mr Galliamov – his internacionāla career is totally over, because the whole World has seen him at Kremlin during the war going on. So I guess Alexander, everything that is left for you is being bitter, resentful and nasty from your couch at home

I don’t begrudge him frustration over not being allowed to compete. He’s entitled to his feelings. But you can be frustrated over the ISU, the IOC or any other sports governing body without belittling other athletes’ achievements as a byproduct. Winning with 199.19 may be a joke to him, but 199.19 was a personal best for Beccari/Guarise who certainly won’t regard that number as a joke. It also kind of begs the question of “if everyone else is so beneath you, why would you want to compete against them anyway?”
