“I don’t remember Ukranian language at all. We were only forced to speak Ukrainian at school. All textbooks were on it. But we spoke Russian.” Devid Narizhny, partner of Annabelle Morozov
Russian dance duo Annabelle Morozov and Devid Narizhny told how to pronounce and spell their names correctly.

Annabele Morozov is half French and Devid Narizhny was born in Kharkiv (Ukraine). He also spoke about Ukrainian language.
Devid Narizhny: My name is pronounced with “a”, but it is written with “e”, because I am Ukrainian, in our country it’s pronounced as “a”. As a result, in the Russian passport I am Devid, but it’s pronounced with “a”.
Do you understand Ukrainian?
Devid Narizhny: I don’t remember the language at all, to be honest. I can understand when someone speaks Ukrainian and read. It’s hard for me to speak it, I can only remember the basic things.
We almost always spoke Russian. We were only forced to speak Ukrainian at school. All textbooks were on it. But they spoke Russian.
Annabelle Morozov: It is correct to say “Morozov” – without “a”, not Morozova. Tell everyone! That’s how it’s written in the passport. I understand that this is strange in Russia, since it is a male gender. But this is unusual. Let this be the “thing” of our pair. I don’t look like a man, so everything is fine.
FS Gossips: Just recall these words of Nariznhy about language in a year. Remember how he tries to distance from his native country (and he dares to call himself a Ukrainian!) and see how quickly they gonna distance from everything Russian after another year of suspension, trying to obtain a French passport.

You are right, FS Gossips! And after his sports career ends he will go back to his roots (which will depend on who wins the war…). Are they dating – maybe marriage will be needed to get French passport which enables participation in the Olimpics ;)
