Another important event at the beginning of the season – Trusova left Tutberidze. Her change of coaches become frequent, this time fans think that this a concern about health. What do you think?

Artur Dmitriev: Indeed, Trusova changed a coach not for the first time. She is a restless person and, so to speak, knows everything herself. It seems to her that the decisions she makes are the right ones. Well she’s still a young girl.

We know that her main strength is her jump technique, she has the will to it. But with age, she will inevitably gain weight, it is a difficult issue for girls. It is unlikely that she will be able to keep her jumps. Probably they will start to fail already this year.

So the quads will disappear?

Artur Dmitriev: Well not exactly. She will try to do them in full force, as before, and the sensations will change, the weight will change, and the injury will graze nearby. Not because she is a bad skater, it’s just a natural process. They need to approach this carefully. I do not know a single skater who would have gone through this period without loss. None. Including Liza Tuktamysheva. She just disappeared for a couple of years. Did not work. If Trusova takes this story seriously and passes this period, she will retain, if not the entire arsenal of jumps, then 70-80%. If she don’t get injured. But she needs to be very careful about her body.

I heard from various skaters that Svetlana Sokolovskaya, let’s say, is more careful about her athletes’ health than Eteri Tutberidze. She saved Kondratiuk at one time. Is that an argument?

Artur Dmitriev: Honestly, I don’t fully know how Eteri and Svetlana coach. I only see some pieces. But I know for sure that Eteri is very demanding precisely on physical conditions – height, weight. She is tough about it. On the other hand, Sokolovskaya has never worked with girls at this level. Elena Buyanova worked with Sotnikova, but, in my opinion, she helped, she was there.

Trusova, however, no longer needs technical work. Organizational help is needed – the correct routine, recovery, an attentive approach to the number of jump attempts. In Lenin’s way: “It’s better less, but better.” She already has technique, experience. You just need to lead her gently. But I do not think that this is the only reason for the transfer. Friendship with Mark also influenced. It is unlikely that she switched, because she thought – well, Sokolovskaya is doing something better. Everything in complex influenced, I guess. But she is an independent person and likes to make decisions herself.

Aren’t such people successful? Or is it not so in figure skating?

Artur Dmitriev: It happens differently. Some achieve it, while others lack something. Trusova lacked a little at this stage. Although she did everything she could. She could not do more at that moment, she did well. But Shcherbakova also did her best. I’m not talking about Valieva. She skated brilliantly until that moment at the Olympics.
