Oleg Vasiliev: “I would like to ask the ISU about the qualification of the technical panel and whether these judges also went to a dinner with Eteri Tutberidze, like the dance judges a month ago?”
The head coach of the Belarusian national figure skating team, 1984 Olympic champion in pair skating Oleg Vasiliev shared his opinion on judging in the women’s short program at the European Championships 2022.

Oleg Vasiliev: Victoria Safonova (skater from Belarus who finished 8th after the short program) got 8.11 points for the 3-3 combination, if we deduct the value of a clean triple toe loop, then for the lutz with the wrong edge on the take off, which in fact was not there, she got 3.91 points. And Shcherbakova, for the same lutz with a fall, where the judges in addition have not noticed the underrotation, gets 3.54. The difference is 0.4 points.
I would like to ask the International Skating Union (ISU) a question about the qualifications of the technical panel, which determines the whether the jump is fully rotated and the quality of the take off. And also to ask – did these judges also go to a dinner with Eteri Tutberidze, like the dance judges did a month ago?
The ISU spends a lot of money on judges’ training every year. I would like to ask where are the results of this training?
When the skating is good, and there are no questions, it causes only positive emotions among the audience, the judges, and the specialists. Kamila Valieva is such an example. And when some squabbles begin, it’s unpleasant.

Thank God for Russian lady skaters doing the job for other nations after changing their residence. There were about six such cases at the 2022 European Championship.
I also wonder “How in the world Shcherbakova got such score?” Were the judges blind?
It makes me not want to watch anymore.
oh my gosh what a line !
This type of situation is very normal now. It is very noticeable how certain skaters are consistently over scored.
