Tatiana Tarasova: The European Championship has been canceled, and this is understandable – the situation in the world is difficult, people are getting sick, the situation is serious.

But we must do our job, and if we can hold the Russian Nationals, it should be held, arrange something else for senior skaters before the World Championships.

As for the Grand Prix Final, it would have been better if they had discussed it and held it in Russia, we are always ready.

Our task is to hold competitions usefully. There is no point in talking about maximum safety – you don’t have it even sitting at home. It seems to me that it is important to keep the competitions as long as possible, as long as we have the strength.

Tatiana Tarasova: Perhaps it was a thoughtful decision. We need to hold the Russian Nationals. People were preparing, skating. We should hold what we can hold. We need to think how to motivate the athletes. Nobody has canceled the World Championships yet. We have to think how to replace the European Championships.

Reality seems to allude her. Given the number of figure skaters from Russia who have fallen ill due to COVID-19, it’s clear that the GP Final should not be held there.
