Kamila Valieva plans to jump quad in her free program
13 year-old Kamila Valieva, a promising Russian figure skater from Eteri Tutberidze’s group tells about her planns to include quads into her free program.
Kamila: In my free program I will jump a quadruple toeloop, I’m also working on other jumps, for example quad salchow. I also work on the axel, but so far only on a harness. I remember my first quad, I jumped it on a harness for a week, then coaches said – you can, try without it. It was scary, I entered the jump and thought how are you going to land it, but then the fear has gone – you go on a quad, like on a triple jump.
About nerves before competitions:
I’m nervous, but I try to overcome it. If I do everything in training, I must do it at competitions. This season I expect consistency from myself.
In the upcoming season, Kamila will perform with her last year’s short program “Girl on the Ball”
Eteri Georgievna [Tutberidze] and Daniil Markovich [Gleichengauz] said that we were keeping the program for the next year. I was surprised when I found out that Eteri Georgievna called this program her favorite last season.
About her popularity:
This has not changed my life. I have social networks, I write there myself, although sometimes I consult with my mother what to write, what to post. In my free time I study, I like math and history, mainly I get “B” and “A”.
