Quebec Summer Championships 2015| Ice Dance Part 2
Eventualy fans of figure skating had an opportunity to see some free dances from Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon group. I want to share my thoughts about it.
Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen 86.02

As I predicted, Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen improved and will be a threat on European level. This dance look more mature than their previous one. But I can’t say that I completely like it. It has advantages, like potential for growth, it shows their soft skating and more polished lines. But it also has disadvantages. Such dance will make an impression only with a clean skate and looks a bit similar to Hurtado Diaz’s free dance from last year.
Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue 90.46

Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue free dance I like the most. Maybe because it differs somehow from all those “just dances about the man and a woman”. The music is a bit dark but I like the concept. The twizzles and lifts fitted beautifully into the music with a potential for goosebumps. The dance has a nerve, but I think it lack culmination. I wonder won’t they have problems with the music rhythm change?
Elisabeth Paradis and Francois-Xavier Ouellette 91.34

This free dance looks a bit the same to their previous one but this style suits them a lot. So, they used it one more time, but in more mature and polished version. I see the huge progress they made during the offseason. They look solid, but will it be enough for a break-through? I also like Elizabeth’s dress, it’s light and tender but a think a partner needs something more sophisticated.
Summing up, I want to say that Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon didn’t amazed me with their dances for not leader of their group. They start to repeat themselves. Maybe their group become too big too early? Hope they did something more interesting for the leading team. Because the figure skating world is waiting for something no less breathtaking and it’s always difficult ro repeat the success.
You can also see my thoughts about the some short dances from this group.
