Fedor Klimov: Our goal is to win the World Championships

Two weeks before Worlds! A little comment from Fedor Klimov.

Our goal is to win the World Championships. There’s no sense to go to Helsinki with other goal. This is the last World Championships before the Olympic Games, alot will depend on it. We shouldn’t waste our energies on trifles.

About content of the programs:

We are planning to do “3-3-2” combination instead of “3-2-2” we did at the European Championships. We trained this element with two triple toe loops before the Championships in Ostrava, but it wasn’t consistent. Now we’re working on triple twist which should have third level and positive GOE. – Fedor said.

Well, he sounds serious! In all honesty that’s a tough job, but of course you always go to a competition hoping for the best. Step 1 of scaring the heck out of your rivals: project confidence.
A level 3 twist with positive GOE would put them even with Duhamel/Radford on that element. The twist is of course their weakest element, so it’s good that they’re focusing on that. For me a sloppy twist brings down the overall impression, and I think a stronger twist will raise their scores nicely.
The 3-3-2 scares me to death, I’m not going to lie, but if they think they can do it, then I’ll think optimistically and go pray for them.
My fingers are crossed! Now I’m off to the chocolate shop just in case things don’t work…but I will stand with Team Klibova forever.

I’m already prepared that they have a hard road ahead of them, so if they don’t win, I won’t be too heartbroken. Not like last year when I assumed they would win and they got stuck in 4th.
