Fashion inspiration

Lots of skaters and creators of their costumes find the inspiration in works of famous designers. I think the most popular prototypes for figure skating dresses are works of Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad.

I really liked the asymmetrical blue dress in antique style that Carolina Kostner wore for the Medals Winner Open. Usually dresses with nude-ilusion on the top looks vulgar (see the example of Elizaveta Tuktamysheva) but Carolina’s dress looks gorgeous and refined due to the well-distributed application of Swarovski crystals. Maybe, this dress won’t be convenient for real competition, but for gala and spotlights it looks marvelous:

I see lots in common (color, asymmetrical design, the way the “nude” part is decorated and the long flying sleeve)  between Carolina’s dress and two dresses from Zuhair Murad Fall 2013 Collection:
