Tatiana Tarasova called on Russian authorities to intervene after the ISU again postponed discussion of Russian skaters’ participation, expressing frustration over the ongoing suspension.
“We shouldn’t be surprised by this – we’ve already served four years. They just keep lying to us! The ISU simply doesn’t want to see us. They like it without us. Other countries win, and they’re happy. I’m far from thinking we should thank them for allowing just two of our athletes. We should have had 12 people going to the Olympics.
I don’t know what we should do. If I were in that position, I’d know. In my own work, I know what to do to meet the standards and win. I am directly asking the country’s leadership to intervene, because this is a very serious issue!” Tarasova told SE.
“They said the ISU Congress postponed the issue of Russian athletes’ return until the summer congress in Tenerife. This is very important, because the season starts in August. How are we supposed to prepare? How much longer can this go on! America is at war every day – we see what’s happening there. Israel is at war. And we’re responsible for everyone!
The ISU Congress will be in June? If they moved it to that date, then in June they must answer this question. They simply must! Because they’re the ones who made us sit out for four years! Four years have passed. Four years! It’s terrible! We’ll keep preparing anyway! We’ll prepare with our own position. We’re not going to give up!” Tarasova told Championat.
