On Thursday, the 22nd, the second day of the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships took place at the Beijing National Indoor Stadium. South Korean figure skater Jia Shin placed 14th in the women’s singles at the Four Continents Championships in Beijing, expressing disappointment over her mistakes but determination to focus on the next event. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on MFocus.

Jia Shin fell on both her triple Lutz and triple Flip jumps, but received level 4, for her non-jump elements – step sequence and spins.

Meeting with reporters in the mixed zone after the competition, Jia said, “I’m disappointed and I think I need to focus more to finish well tomorrow.” When asked about what was disappointing and what went well in today’s performance, she replied, “I made two mistakes on my jumps, so I feel very disappointed, and I can’t really remember what I did well right now.” Although her condition had been good during practice, Jia Shin said, “Since the short program is already over, I’ll try to forget it quickly and focus more on the free program tomorrow.”

Asked about her goals for this competition, she said, “I paid more attention to my spins, but I’m not sure if the levels came out well,” and added, “My biggest goal was to make as few mistakes as possible, so I’m very disappointed that I made mistakes again.”

Recalling her experience at this venue two years ago at the Junior Grand Prix Final, Jia Shin said, “Back then, I competed as a junior, and now I’m here as a senior. It still feels a bit surreal to be competing at the Four Continents Championships.” She continued, “I don’t think much has changed since then, but I do think I’m skating with more self-reflection than before, and that’s a bit different.”
