Mone Chiba (20), who will represent Japan at the Milan-Cortina Olympics in February, made her final adjustments at the competition venue ahead of the short program. Here’s a translation of her comments.

Although mistakes in her jumps were noticeable during practice that day, she remained optimistic, saying, “I see it as having given my all here.” While monitoring her own condition, she added, “There isn’t much time left before the competition, but I want to be in the best possible shape,” as she prepared for the main event.

Her goal for this competition is not about scores or rankings, but rather “to deliver both the short and free programs consistently.” She will be skating last in the SP, but she calmly stated, “This is also a valuable experience,” and pledged, “Since this is the last competition before the Olympics, I want to approach it with a strong determination to deliver flawless performances.”
