South Korean figure skater Jia Shin secured a bronze medal at the 2025 ISU Challenger Series Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany, with a total score of 208.45, setting season-best scores across all segments. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on MFocus.

In the short program the previous day, Shin delivered a flawless performance, earning 74.47 points and placing first ahead of top-tier skaters such as Amber Glenn (USA), Isabeau Levito (USA), and Mone Chiba (Japan). In the free skate, she recorded a technical element score (TES) of 66.17 and a program component score (PCS) of 67.81, for a total of 133.98 points. Despite small mistakes, she secured third place following clean performances by Glenn and Chiba earlier in the event.

Shin set season-best scores in the short program, free skate, and combined total at this competition. In particular, her short program score surpassed the personal best she achieved at the 2024 Junior World Championships, showcasing her growing competitiveness on the senior stage.

After the event, Shin shared her thoughts through her management agency, All That Sports:

“It’s been a while since I felt such a high level of nervousness during a competition. While there are areas I feel I could’ve done better in the free skate, this competition was personally rewarding and gave me a lot to take away.”

Looking ahead, she added:

“Through this event, I’ll focus on addressing specific details and improving further. I will use this time to prepare well for the remaining Grand Prix events.”

Next Steps: Grand Prix Series

Jia Shin is set to return to South Korea on September 29 via Incheon International Airport. She will then compete in the second event of the 2025 ISU Grand Prix Series, held in Chongqing, China, from October 24 to 26.
