The International Skating Union (ISU) recently granted neutral status to only two Russian figure skaters — Adeliia Petrosian and Petr Gumennik — allowing them to participate in the qualification tournaments for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Neutral status, however, was not approved for Russia’s pairs teams or ice dance duos, leaving top contenders like Anastasia Mishina and Aleksandr Galliamov (pairs) and Aleksandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin (ice dance) ineligible to compete.
Among Russian skaters, only speed skater Daria Kachanova challenged the ISU’s decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). According to Sport-Express, citing CAS, no appeals were filed by Russian figure skaters, speed skaters, or short-track athletes as of June 4, the deadline for submitting cases regarding the May 13 ruling by ISU.
The period for filing appeals officially expired at midnight between June 3 and June 4.
