Tatiana Tarasova expressed her disappointment over the International Skating Union’s (ISU) refusal to grant neutral status to Russian pairs and ice dance duos, effectively barring them from competing in qualification events for the 2026 Winter Olympics. While none of the affected athletes or teams filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) before the June 4 deadline, Tarasova said she would have contested the decision.

“I would have filed an appeal,” Tarasova stated. She questioned the fairness of the ISU’s decision, saying, “Of course, everyone does what they think is best, but I would want answers: why weren’t they granted neutral status? Why this injustice? Why this treatment of our pairs and ice dance teams?”

She suggested, however, that the decision not to appeal was likely well-informed: “Their coaches and mentors decided not to file, which means they know more than I do.”

On Denials and Broader Implications

Tarasova also shared her thoughts on the broader trend of suspension on Russian athletes: “There’s a clear trend — they’re out to crush us.”

The 2026 Winter Olympics, set to be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, currently allow some Russian athletes to attempt qualification, including select figure skaters, speed skaters, and ski mountaineers—though participation is increasingly limited.

What else can she say without being “beheaded”, discreditet by the Russian Government…..

  2. Ulrich Salchow says:

Why? Because they didn’t meet the requirements set by the ISU. Tatiana was a great coach for a long time, but since like 2014 she has become a social media talking head used to stir up bad feelings.
