Hana Yoshida (23) who silver medal at Grand Prix de France 2024 and became the first woman to qualify for the GP Final. She commented on her performance. Here’s a translation of her comments posted on Nikkansports.
Scoring 206?08 points in total, she exceeded her total score at Skate America by nearly ten points. “More than reaching the Final, I was happiest that I was able to perform just as I confidently practiced,” she expressed joyfully.
There were mistakes, such as a planned triple lutz-triple – triple toe loop combo turned into 3-2, but she sealed her performance amidst “trembling legs” from tension. While acknowledging under-rotations as points to reflect on, she nodded, “At Skate America, there weren’t major visible mistakes, but it was frustrating when I couldn’t perform as I aimed. Today, being able to do as practiced boosted my confidence. I think I performed better this time overall.”
In her second season after returning from a break, she unveiled that a conversation with choreographer Shae-Lynn Bourne, before this season began, made her realize, “There’s no point unless I do my best.” “Comparing myself with others only causes distractions. I should focus on identifying the challenges towards my goals and work hard,” Wakaba told.
“In a way, it’s like being in practice. I want to stay calm and aim for a competition that builds more than results, but confidence,” Higuchi told about looking towards GP Final and Japanese Nationals.
