The ISU Council has admitted Russian junior skaters to international competitions. This was announced by three-time Olympic figure skating champion Irina Rodnina.

Russian athletes have been banned competitions held under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) since March 2022. On September 27-28, the ISU Council meeting takes place in Lausanne.

Irina Rodnina: We are talking about juniors. They have only allowed juniors. The decision has been made to admit them. The only question is how. We have not participated in any qualifying competitions. It seems that siniors were considered too, but only juniors were admitted. If we consider the season starting from January 1, then they will most likely be admitted only from the next season.

Q: Does this indicate a thaw on the part of the ISU?

Irina Rodnina: Why are we waiting for some kind of thaw? There isn’t any. They are just worse off without us.”

    WHAT ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  2. Woah..!! Where did this come from? Last I knew the ISU was hell bent not to let Russians compete, especially with the Russian-Ukrainian War still going on…maybe they’re hurting for good competition idk. It seems kinda counter to counter what they have said, ironic.
