2024 Four Continents bronze medalist Rinka Watanabe (22) has a packed schedule at the beginning of the season. She competed in Tokyo Summer Tournament, participated in “One Piece on Ice” show, did Lombardia Trophy as her first international competition and took part in Tokyo Championship. Here’s a translation of her comments.
“I’ve had competitions and ice shows for four weeks straight, and I was really tired, but I was able to attack my axels as well. It was good that I could finish without any injuries.”
After returning home from Lombardia Trophy, she fell ill, but resumed jumping two days before the competition in Tokyo but still attempted triple axel in both programs. While the busy schedule was not by choice and not what she had hoped for, she said, “It was great to be able to experience the tension of an international competition before the Grand Prix series.”
