Natalia Linichuk explained the termination of her work with figure skater Valeriy Angelopol.

Valeriy Angelopol is 20 years old, and he was the winner of the 2023 Russian Grand Prix Finals in ice dance with Vasilisa Kaganovskaya. The pair broke up in August last year. Recently it has been announced that Angelopol split up with another partner (third one), Alexandra Shinkarenko. They trained with Linichuk at Yevgeny Plushenko’s academy.

Natalia Linichuk commented on the situation. Here’s a translation of her comment.

“I suspended my work with Shinkarenko and Angelopol as a pair due to Valeriy’s unprofessional attitude towards the work. Alexandra is a talented dancer with potential. I will continue to work with her and am in the process of finding her a partner. I will no longer work with Valeriy. I do not get involved in scandals and cheap circuses. If you are worth something, prove it in your training and competitions.

I only knew a little about the pair of Valeriy with Vasilisa Kaganovskaya and only met him at Plushenko’s Academy. In my many years of experience, I have never seen a phenomenon where someone becomes a leader without effort, sweat, determination, and daily practice. This is where our disagreements with Valeriy arose because he was doing everything to become such a phenomenon.

Trying to address this issue, we had discussions with Evgeni Victorovich (Plushenko) and Yana Alexandrovna (Rudkovskaya). I found a solution – I proposed that Valeriy work with a psychologist on a regular basis. Unfortunately, he rejected this offer.

I wish Valeriy luck and emotional balance. I am very grateful to Evgeni Plushenko and Yana Rudkovskaya for the opportunity to work with the talented kids in my group. Their eyes are lit, and they genuinely love their craft,” Linichuk noted.
