Anna Shcherbakova shared her respect for Kaori Sakamoto and Ilia Malinin. Here’s a translation of her comments.

“I have immense respect for Kaori Sakamoto. Even though she does not perform quad jumps. But to maintain such a high level for so many years, to show true sports character – it means a lot.

Even in the absence of serious competition, it’s important not to lower your own bar, to show the maximum of your capabilities.

It also commands respect that in her interviews she acknowledges the level of Russian female singles. Our girls are still performing the most difficult multi rotational jumps, which are now rarely seen on the international arena,” said the Olympic champion of Beijing 2022.

Shcherbakova also spoke about which foreign singles skaters impress her.

“I love figure skating not only as an athlete, but also as a spectator. So, I often watch competitions. This season, it was interesting to follow the competition in our male singles figure skating.

I also watched the World Championships. Ilia Malinin is very impressive. He is making history at a time when it seemed that the maximum has already been reached,” added the figure skater.

One thing, Kaori is competent skater and very nice girl.
Other thing, brainwashing hate towards someone who overreaches your standards and never accepted defeat. So if anna won, you must act like a complete idiot, defame her and claim nonsense. Who are those “more and more people”, these who hated the best skaters like Anna always pretended how quads are “bad and absolutely evil thing” because the only skating they want is how they did it 50 years ago. And the others who respected the athletic achievement that was accompanied by artistic content (yes, Anna is more artistic than all those various fat clumsy slow skaters or go-go dancers like Loena) like many others. There is no change, no shift of opinion. Only the first group (represented by USA, Canada and partially Japan) now bought ISU because they desired medals that they would never get otherwise.

Kaori maintains the high level for such a long time because some sh*coach didn’t force her jump quads. More and more people aren’t interested in quads and making figure skating a jump competition for emaciated minors without skating skills.

I love how she always sounds so serious when she speaks. Like she thinks through everything she says. Such a nice person.

Darling, doped teen girls are not serious competition. We will never forget your “smeling salts” episode either.
