The head of the Astana Figure Skating Federation spoke about the transition of Samodelkin. Recently it became known that Samodelkina got a release from Russian Figure Skating Federation to represent Kazahstan.
“Sofia moved to Kazakhstan and received citizenship back in May 2023. She spent the season training process in the ‘Angels of Plushenko’ academy. How events will develop further will be known after receiving the official release and making the official transition.
Training will take place both in Kazakhstan and Russia according to the individual preparation plan. We are now waiting for an official release from the Russian Figure Skating Federation. After that, we will put together a plan for participation in competitions.
For example, an athlete from Almaty, Mikhail Shaidorov, also spends his entire sports season in Russia and trains with Russian coaches. Likewise, other high-class skaters from Astana also undergo their training abroad.
For starters, Sofia will participate in domestic competitions. Everything will proceed according to our laws and rules,” said Elmira Turganova.
