Philip Shvetsky, the team doctor of the Russian figure skating team, hopes that the court’s decision on the lawsuit against the German journalist Hajo Seppelt will assist the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in making a positive decision regarding figure skater Kamila Valieva. He shared this with journalists.
On Wednesday, the Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow satisfied Shvetsky’s lawsuit against Seppelt in a case related to the protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation. The basis for the lawsuit against Seppelt and the ARD broadcasting companies was a video material in which the journalist, according to the doctor, tarnished his reputation by implying his possible involvement in doping entering Valieva’s body before the Olympics in Beijing.
“In 2018, at the beginning of a new Olympic cycle, the team gold was a personal goal for me. For four years, we worked towards it, won it, and now we need to finalize this issue. This victory will be even more valuable. Through obstacles, we must prove that the victory was deserved. I hope that today’s situation will make an additional contribution to the treasury of the main team,” said Shvetsky.
According to the court’s decision, the monetary amount won by Shvetsky from Seppelt is one ruble. “If they gave me this ruble, and I am a numismatist, it would already be worth more than a ruble,” he noted.”

Russia wants to put the blame everywhere but on themselves. They have been breaking the doping rules for years and nothing was every done. This is not the first time they were caught. At least the US skaters were skating clean and they skated well. They have sat back with dignity and waiting for a decision to be made.
