Here’s a translation of the news posted on Nikkansports, citing Japanese Figure Skating Federation.

“The Japan Skating Federation announced on the October 30th that the world champions Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, will not participate in the GP Series’ 6th event, the NHK Trophy, which is scheduled to start on November 24th at the Osaka East-Wa Pharmaceuticals RACTAB Dome.

This decision was made due to Kihara’s lumbar spondylolysis, a condition they are currently addressing. They also missed the first event, Skate America, for the same reason. Kihara commented, “I want to focus on recovering as soon as possible so that I can resume training at the earliest,” after experiencing discomfort in his lower back since around August, which gradually worsened and began to cause pain. As a result, he sought medical evaluation in Canada, where their training base is located, and received the diagnosis.
