Anna Shcherbakova named her figure skating idols. She said, “In my childhood, there was a figure skater whose performances I loved very much – it’s Japanese skater Mao Asada. Back then, jumps with more than three rotations were a rarity, but she combined very interesting programs with complex choreography and those multi-rotation jumps.
And, of course, I’ll mention Yulia Lipnitskaya. When I was 9 years old, I joined Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze’s group, where Yulia was preparing for the Olympics. I watched her training sessions with incredible admiration.
Do I have a role model in figure skating now? Of course, there’s always room for improvement. But now, I’m setting my own goals and trying to achieve them,” said the 2022 Olympic champion.
Anna Shcherbakova also talked about her favorite jumps. She said, “Jumps have always been my favorites. It’s always been the most interesting to work on jumps, to study them.
From year to year, my favorite jump always changed. Initially, it was the triple toe loop, then it became the triple lutz, and towards the end, even the flip became my favorite. So it’s always changing,” said Shcherbakova.
