Here’s the translation of the news posted on Hochi News:
“The Japan Skating Federation announced that Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, who won the gold medal at the last season’s World Championships, will miss the GP Series’ first event, Skate America (scheduled on October 20th to 22nd), due to Ryuichi Kihara being diagnosed with “lumbar spondylolisthesis.”
Through the federation, the pair stated, “We have decided to withdraw from the Grand Prix Series in the United States. Since around August, Ryuichi has been feeling discomfort in his lower back, and it gradually worsened, so we returned to Canada, where our training base is located, for a medical examination. We aim to recover as soon as possible so that we can resume training. The warm support we receive from many people is always a great source of encouragement. Thank you. We ask for your continued support.”
They are still listed for the NHK Trophy, the 6th event of this season’s GP Series, which will be held in Osaka in November.”
